This is an old home movie taken by my father Ken with his 16mm camera. It appears to be a feature to highlight the resort, because he was using the story boards, but he appeared to not get them centered correctly. I think this was taken between 1950 and 1955 because of the cars, the resort still had wooden boats and Dad bought his camera in 1951 I think. There is a scene with a car coming around the circle in front of the main house and an arm out the window waving, that is Grandpa Ralph. Grandma Grace is playing tennis and shooting archery in another scene. There is another scene of some logging being done and they are using a HORSE to pull the logs out of the woods. That really dates it! I think the guys doing the logging are the Francisco brothers. They did that kind of work for Ralph and they put in the pier along the creek in the back of the cottages on the west side. They used wood from the resort, they cut it into boards and dried it in their drying sheds at their place right nearby on highway 70. My brother Ken tells a story of one of the Francisco brothers pounding in pier posts and he told Ken the points on the posts were done with a giant pencil sharpener. I can find no one up around the resort nowadays that has ever even heard of the Francisco brothers. The closing scene is hard to see but it is the "Beach Party" of the weekly BBQ. I hope to add more video as I can edit and install it.
